This musical ride was first staged in Barbados on January 17th– 20th 2013, and continued with a series of dynamic jazz events in Antigua in April, Grenada in June, Suriname in August for Carifesta and later to St Vincent in October.
At the Naniki Jazz Festival jazz fans are treated to the highest caliber of Caribbean and international performers in some of the most exotic tropical settings. The jazz brand is building worldwide recognition at a rapid pace, while developing a tourism product that attracts visitors from throughout the region and all over the world.
Some of the accomplished jazz artiste gracing the stage of the Naniki Jazz Safari include T. S. Monk, Nnenna Freelon, Cedar Walton, Mario Canonge, Elan Trotman, Jeff Lorber and Melanie Fiona. Other jazz acts include Archie Alleyne and Kollage, Danny Mixon featuring Denise Thimes, Happy Lewis and Cameron Pierre, Peter ‘Zack’ Bernard, Quiet Fire with Jenny J, Derek McKeith, C4, Shontelle, Stefan Walcott’s 1688 Nonet, Pabo Nahar Trio, Frankie McIntosh, and Guy Marc Vadeleux Trio.
The Caribbean Jazz Safari is endorsed by the Caribbean Tourism Organization and features another first for jazz education in the Caribbean, with the Traveling Guitar Foundation interactive workshops for secondary school. This regional outreach with its fundamentals in quality jazz performance, education and tourism truly shines the Caribbean light.

The Naniki Caribbean Jazz Safari was founded by Tom Hinds, managing director of Damal Investments and well-known promoter of high-quality jazz events at his scenic Naniki Restaurant and Lush Life Resort in St. Joseph, Barbados. The unique event is under the aegis of Damal Investments, the Caribbean Tourism Organization and the Tourism Authorities of Barbados, Antigua & Barbuda, Grenada and St Vincent & the Grenadines.
Naniki has been recognized as the home of jazz in Barbados over the past 12 years. The popular SundayJazz buffet with live jazz has become a feature on the Barbados’ entertainment calendar where locals and visitors savour the fine food, great music and the incomparable panorama in the cool St. Joseph hills. He has welcomed icons such as Oscar Peterson, Frank Morgan, Miriam Makeba, Monty Alexander, Roy Haynes, George Cables, David Hazeltine, David ‘Happy’ Williams and many others
