GUN HILL SIGNAL STATION
George - (Scenic, Historic, Military)

This historic stop affords a stunning view of the south and east of the island. The station was part of a chain of six signal stations used island-wide by the British is the early 1800s. Built in 1818 Gun Hill, with its famous carved lion, is now under the stewardship of the Barbados National Trust.

ORCHID WORLD
Central Area - (Flora, Scenic, Tour)

A beautiful attraction with thousands of spectacular orchids in lush tropical gardens! This is one of the finest orchid gardens in the Caribbean making it a fantastic stop. The vivid colours are truly unbelievable and photos never do this garden justice.

AYSHFORD BIRD PARK
Central Area - (Flora & Fauna, Scenic, Tour)

A riot of birds from all over the world, from Africa to the Caribbean. Many different species of parrots, pheasants, pigeons and show poultry are all on display here. There's a restaurant, and the property sits on a hill, offering a lovely view of Bridgetown and surrounding areas.

HARRISON'S CAVE
Central Area - (Scenic, Tour)

Managed by the government of Barbados, Harrison's Cave is a wonderland of stalactites and stalagmites, cascading pools and pristine streams. The hour-long tour takes you down into the caves by electric tram into what is considered one of the most spectacular caves in the entire region. There is also a little nature path outside the cave entrance as well as a visitor centre and refreshment stand.

WELCHMAN HALL GULLY
Central Area - (Flora & Fauna, Scenic, Tour)

Welchman Hall Tropical Forest Reserve is located in the heart of the island in Welchman Hall Gully. Here you can take a stroll through the roughly mile long, deep and densely wooded gully where monkeys chatter high in the trees and at every step there is another tree or shrub to observe. This was actually a cave that was part of the Harrison's Cave network until the roof collapsed. It has become Barbados' first organised natural sight.

HIGHLAND ADVENTURES CENTRE

Highland Outdoor Tours offer tours with a difference, in fact several differences. You can hike, go by horseback or ride a jitney into the pristine midsection of the island, through gullies, pastures and private lands never before open to the public. The staff is knowledgeable about everything from folk/herb remedies to fascinating little historical tid-bits. You can have a day of great fun or just a few hours. The bar and the setting alone are worth the stop for the stunning view of the green slopes cascading into the rugged east coast.

BAMBOO VILLAGE
Central Area - (Scenic, Souvenir Shopping)

This little stop-off between Flower Forest and Highland Outdoor Tours quite literally appeared from nowhere. It all began with one person who noticed people stopping along the bridge to take pictures of the beautiful window vista to the east coast. She began selling various souvenir items and before long an entire village of vendors appeared. In the midst of it, a little group of guys began constructing a bamboo hut, which soon became a castle of bamboo. It is now a major stop-off for cruise ship and day tour buses. The view really is great.

THE FLOWER FOREST

A dramatic landscape and an explosion of blooms, tropical plants and trees all set in a nature trail format with some lovely vistas of the breathtaking east coast along the way. Privately owned and operated the Flower Forest offers up some stunning flora in a natural setting.

EARTHWORKS POTTERY / HP BATIK STUDIO

Perched atop Shop Hill in St. Thomas, Earthworks specialise in functional art works from their own studio where they spin beautiful, one-of-a-kind hand-finished tableware, art pieces, vases, bowls and so much more. Visit the Potters House next door - it's filled with many treasures from Earthworks as well as other local potters and artists. Designs are all original and are done in a variety of colours and techniques. Check out the Tree House Cafe next door for lunch, snacks, or a cool drink and just enjoy the view.

FISHERPOND PLANTATION

This great house was built in 1635 and has been featured in many international publications for its unique Barbadian architecture and antique furnishings. Period furniture and paintings are present throughout the house complimented by beautifully maintained gardens on the outside. Publications Fisherpond Plantation House were featured in are; Town and Country, British Homes and Gardens, Red Magazine and Spanish Vogue. This venue is excellent for hosting weddings and private functions.

SPRINGVALE ECO-HERITAGE MUSEUM & TOUR
Central Area - (Historic, Tour)

Springvale Eco-Tours and Folk Museum was formerly a Sugar Plantation but has since been converted into a heritage museum with a small folk collection. Here you can see an exhibit of historical Barbadian life through the collection of old-time cooking pots and furniture, literature or just walking through the plantation ground. There are also eco-tours with a nature trail leading to an old mine and a caf serving traditional Bajan snacks and drinks.

TURNERS HALL WOODS
Central Area - (Flora & Fauna, Scenic, Tour)

This 50 acre park and nature reserve is used mainly for hiking and is the remains of a once lush tropical forest. Although not a typical rain forest, there is still a presence of some of the usual associated vegetation as well as a thick growth of trees. Here you can see green monkeys, ferns, a variety of palms, lianas, white cedar trees and lots more.
