he original St Peter's Parish Churchwas built of wood in 1629. It was then rebuilt for the second time in 1665 but was again destroyed by the hurricane of 1831.
The church was rebuilt once again in 1837 but this time in Georgian style with pediments on the front facing Church Street. The square tower is a familiar landmark in Speightstown and it can be seen out to sea.
In 1980 it was partially destroyed by fire. Only the walls and tower survived. It was later beautifully restored.
